Common challenges
Does this sound familiar?
No website yet — or on a free builder
Many charities launch on Wix or WordPress.com, then outgrow it once donors and grant bodies start scrutinising their web presence. The next step is to explain the organisation clearly and give supporters a dependable route to act.
Website that can't accept donations online
If a supporter visits your site after a campaign and can't easily donate or set up a Gift Aid-eligible regular gift, you're losing income. We build every charity site with donation-ready functionality.
Supporters cannot verify your work
A clear account of your programmes, governance, current registration status and evidenced impact helps people understand your organisation. Link reports and explain where supporters can ask questions.
Can't be found by the people you help
If someone searches "housing support charity Manchester" or "food bank near me", can they find you? We build every charity site with local SEO and structured data so beneficiaries and donors can find you in Google and AI search.
What's included
What is included in the £1,000 charity package?
Up to 5 pages, all-inclusive. No monthly website-platform fee. Confirm domain, provider transaction fees and costs after the included support period in your written scope.
Up to 5 pages
Agree up to five pages from your priorities, for example Home, About, Our Work, Donate and Contact. Events or news can replace a page or be scoped separately.
Online donation page
A donation page using the agreed provider. Confirm whether a link, embed or custom checkout is included and how Gift Aid records will be handled.
WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility
An agreed accessibility target, with checks on keyboard navigation, labels, contrast and representative supporter journeys.
Mobile responsive
Designed and tested across all screen sizes — most charity supporters browse on mobile.
SEO setup
Page titles, meta descriptions, structured data, sitemap, and Google Search Console verification.
Volunteer sign-up form
Simple form capturing volunteer interest, skills, and availability — all data is yours.
Events section
Upcoming fundraising events, community programmes, and awareness days listed with dates.
Impact section
Showcase your beneficiaries served, funds raised, and outcomes — the evidence donors and grant bodies look for.
Charity registration display
Charity number, registered trustees, and Companies House number displayed correctly for compliance.
12 months technical support
We handle hosting, security, and small content updates for the first year.
Domain registration
Optional domain registration in an account you control. Availability and the annual renewal fee are confirmed separately.
Launched in 3–4 weeks
From brief to live. We provide a content guide on day one to keep things on track.
Charity-specific
How is the site built for how charities actually work?
Online donations & Gift Aid
JustGiving embeds, Stripe donate buttons, and PayPal Giving Fund integration. Where Gift Aid applies, agree the declaration, consent and record-keeping process with the charity. Claims need eligible donations and appropriate records; a website form alone does not make or submit a claim.
WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility
We agree an accessibility target and test representative pages and journeys, including keyboard use, visible focus, labels, contrast and zoom. Third-party donation and booking platforms need their own review. A checklist is not a certification.
AI & Google search visibility
We set up descriptive titles, crawlable pages, a sitemap and structured data that matches the actual organisation and content. This supports clear discovery; search rankings and AI citations are not guaranteed.
Volunteer recruitment
A dedicated volunteer section with role descriptions, sign-up forms, and skills matching. Volunteer inquiries go directly to your nominated inbox — no third-party platform required.
Charity Commission compliance
Charity number, registered name, trustee information, and annual report links displayed as recommended by the Charity Commission. We know the transparency requirements and build them in from the start.
GDPR for charities
Agree what each form needs to collect, who receives it and how long it is kept. Use a privacy notice that describes the actual setup, with separate marketing choices. Sensitive beneficiary information needs an appropriately scoped system.
Choose the donation journey before the build
A hosted fundraising link is often sufficient for a small charity. An embed keeps more of the journey on your site, while a custom checkout brings more responsibility for payment events, receipts, recurring gifts and records. We agree the appropriate option and provider charges before starting.
Gift Aid is a separate operational process. Your charity must check donation eligibility, obtain the necessary declaration and keep records. The website can support that process, but it does not replace it. Read HMRC’s declaration guidance.
What to prepare
- Your registration details, approved mission and programme descriptions.
- Logo, photographs with permission to use them, and evidenced impact figures.
- The person approving content and the inbox receiving enquiries.
- Access to your domain and chosen donation provider through secure invitations.
- Any existing pages or documents that need preserving during a move.
For a replacement website, we also review existing URLs and redirects so useful search entry points survive the launch. After launch, measure completed donations in the payment provider and enquiries in the receiving system; visits alone do not establish fundraising impact.

How it works
How do you go from enquiry to live in 3–4 weeks?
Enquiry & eligibility
You share your charity registration number — we verify on the Charity Commission register (takes minutes) and confirm your £1,000 price.
Brief & content guide
We send a simple content brief: your mission, key pages, and any logos or photos. Most charities complete it in under an hour.
Design & build
We design and build your site — mobile responsive, accessible, and SEO-ready. You see a staging preview before anything goes live.
Review & revisions
You give us feedback. We include two rounds of revisions to make sure everything is right.
Launch
We publish your site, submit it to Google Search Console, and hand over the keys. Your 12 months of technical support begins on launch day.
What are the common questions about charity website design?
How much does a charity website cost in the UK?
With Elite Digital Agency, a charity website costs £1,000 all-inclusive — that's our Starter Launch package for registered UK charities (Charity Commission, OSCR, or CCNI registered). Standard Starter Launch is £1,500. Bespoke charity websites with custom integrations, e-commerce, or advanced donation functionality start from £3,495. The starter scope includes design, build, mobile optimisation, SEO setup and one year of technical support. Bespoke features and third-party costs are confirmed in the proposal.
What features should a charity website include?
A charity website should include: a clear mission statement and impact evidence, a prominent donation button or fundraising page, Gift Aid declaration capability, an events and news section, a volunteer sign-up form, genuine supporter feedback where permission is available, charity registration number and trustees information for transparency, an agreed accessibility target and testing, and accurate search metadata and relevant structured data.
Do charities get a discount on web design?
Yes — we offer registered UK charities a £500 discount on our Starter Launch website, bringing the all-inclusive price to £1,000 (standard price £1,500). The discount applies to organisations registered with the Charity Commission (England & Wales), OSCR (Scotland), or CCNI (Northern Ireland). CICs are considered on request. Just provide your registration number when enquiring.
How long does it take to build a charity website?
Our Starter Launch charity websites go live in 3–4 weeks from kickoff. Larger custom charity websites typically take 6–10 weeks. The timeline depends on how quickly content (mission statement, photos, team bios, impact stats) is provided. We send a content brief on day one to keep things moving.
Do you set up online donation pages?
Yes. We integrate with JustGiving, PayPal Giving Fund, Stripe, and your chosen fundraising provider. We can set up a dedicated donation page on your website, embed a JustGiving widget, or configure a Stripe-powered donation form. We agree the chosen provider and Gift Aid process in the scope. A declaration does not establish eligibility or automatically submit a claim.
Do charity websites need to be accessible (WCAG)?
Accessibility should be part of the brief. We agree the target and review key journeys for headings, text alternatives, keyboard use, contrast and form labels. Third-party platforms and content updates also affect accessibility; a particular legal or funding requirement needs checking against your circumstances.
Can you build a website for a newly registered charity with no content yet?
Absolutely — we work with newly registered charities frequently. We provide a content brief to guide you, and can write your homepage and about page copy as part of the package. Many new charities come to us immediately after Charity Commission registration, and we have the process streamlined for quick launches.
