## Who should skip this?

- Groups that do not meet the charitable purposes test — we will tell you early, not bill you for a doomed application.
- Founders wanting speed over governance quality — a weak constitution delays registration; we build it properly.
- Existing charities needing structural changes — that is a different (governance) engagement; ask us first.

     The opportunity

If your organisation's income exceeds £5,000 per year and its purposes are exclusively charitable, registration with the Charity Commission is a legal requirement in England and Wales. Beyond compliance, registration unlocks significant benefits: public trust, grant funding access, corporate sponsorships, and Gift Aid on donations.

## What are the common questions about Frequently Asked Questions?

**How long does charity registration take?**

The Charity Commission typically takes 40–60 working days to process applications. Our job is to ensure your application is complete and accurate to avoid delays or further queries.

**What if my application is refused?**

Our Fully Managed package includes handling of Commission queries and, if needed, a revised resubmission at no additional cost.

**Do you only operate in England and Wales?**

Our registration service covers England and Wales (Charity Commission). We can advise on Scottish registration (OSCR) but this is managed separately.

**What are your charity registration prices?**

Standard: £899 (basic application support). Premium: £1,349 (includes governing document drafting and trustee guidance). Fully Managed: £2,249 (full end-to-end service including HMRC and Gift Aid setup).

**Do I legally have to register my charity?**

In England and Wales, registration with the Charity Commission is a legal requirement if your organisation's annual income exceeds £5,000 and its purposes are exclusively charitable. Below £5,000 income, registration is voluntary but recommended — it unlocks public trust, grant eligibility, and Gift Aid. We assess your specific situation and advise on the appropriate route and timing.

**What are the benefits of registering a charity?**

Registered charities benefit from: public trust and credibility (the Charity Commission register is publicly searchable); eligibility for most grant funding streams; 80% mandatory business rates relief; Gift Aid on eligible donations (adding 25% at no cost to donors); corporate donation and sponsorship eligibility; and access to Google Ad Grants ($10,000/month in free advertising). The combination of these benefits typically makes registration financially transformative for qualifying organisations.

**Can I register a charity if I am the sole trustee?**

No — the Charity Commission requires a minimum of three unconnected trustees for most charity structures. Trustees must not be connected by family or employment relationships in a way that creates conflicts of interest. Part of our registration service includes guidance on trustee recruitment and governance structure to meet these requirements correctly from the outset.
